As ever I’m constantly impressed with wordpress as a versatile and useful blog tool, but did you know it makes a great CMS?
In fact wordpress is now my cms of choice for static sites, simply becuse its so easy to install and to configure. And then you have the plugins!
This is a villa rental site I’ve done recently, its for rentals in Italy in an area called Piemonte.
The main features are the easy theming, the configurability and of course the plugins!
Main stars are:
- FLIR for the pretty fonts
- Flickr tag for making images embedding a whole lot easier ( my rationale: use services that do what they do really well. Flickr is genius on images and its free!
- All in one SEO pack
- and all the usual indispensable features like Akismet

Hi Nick, how’s it going since my departure?
I’ve been banging the sites out in Wordpress (and to a lesser extent Drupal) recently and discovered it’s much more flexible than it originally was.
I’ll not link spam but write the URLs
http://www.underdogpoker.co.uk
http://www.europeancashgame.com
are both a couple of sites I’ve just set up in Wordpress and neither of which you would class as a traditional blog.
I’ve gone off All In One SEO, I use Headspace 2 now for the most part.
A good resource on how to optimise Wordpress was written by Joost de Valk

Hopefully catch up with you later,
Barry.
